ALERT – Stable Shop Burglary

The Stable Shop, in Main Street, Kirk Ireton, was broken into some time between 5.30pm on Friday and 7.15am the following morning. A burglar broke in through a door and took cash and cigarettes.

Police are investigating two other attempted burglaries in the Ashbourne area.

At around 5.25am on Saturday, a window at the Black Horse pub, in Hulland Ward, was damaged but nothing was stolen.

Between 11.30pm on Friday and 5.45am the next day, someone attempted to force open a window at the Red Lion pub, in Hollington, but they did not gain entry.

Officers believe the incidents are linked.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Proposals To Reduce Road Gritting Service For Kirk Ireton This Winter

Dear Villagers,

I have been asked to make sure that everybody is aware of Derbyshire County Council’s (DCC) plans to reduce the road gritting service provided to Kirk Ireton. At the present time the roads into our village are treated during the day and night and ‘pre-treated’ before bad weather hits. Gritting is then continued on a 24 hours a day basis. The proposals are that this be reduced to gritting in the day only with the first run being completed by mid-morning. Roads would be pre-treated before bad weather hits, only where possible, with higher priority routes taking precedence.
